Absolutely loved this battlefield! The visitors center is full of helpful staff to direct you. There is a small museum in the visitors center that is definitely worth seeing. The battlefield can either be walked or driven--we chose to walk it. If you are hiking, be prepared with plenty of water and get an early start! It is worth it though. The map provided by the park service is not the best, but Google maps is useful in this case. There are a lot of monuments in this park and many signs giving information about what happened there and who was there. There are also staff members posted throughout the park to assist with directions or questions.

Personal tours are available, if you're like a more in depth experience. Battle took place in September - recommend September or October to see the full effect of the corn (troops marched through corn to confront opposing force - entire fields of corn were mown down by the volleys of cannon and rifle fire).

Great visitors center, tour route very bike friendly, with a few challenging hills (paved). We took a Scout troop there, started at the visitors center to catch the 30 minute film, then booked around to see various places where the battle was waged.

I am, by no means, a civil war scholar, and came to the park to run the the roads and trail. I found myself stopping at each marker, farm and home along the driving tour and became enthralled by the history of the battle.

The driving tour has great detail at each stop, and the memorials are beautiful.

I have yet to take a personal, guided tour, but I live close by so I will do that soon.

Fantastic park rangers who answered all our questions. Great field trip! More than a day's worth of activities available!

Beautifully kept grounds rich with history. Knowledgeable staff who you can tell are passionate about the park and history, always happy to answer questions and discuss events and details of the battle.

This was a gorgeously maintained battlefield with up to date facilities and a museum. The staff was super helpful with getting our pass taken care of, and the site itself is breathtaking. It does a fantastic job of reminding people how horrific the loss of life in the Civil War actually was. The contrast between the life and beauty of a place versus the terrible death toll was staggering.
